New publications in 2008

"Peasenhall in the 1840s" - volume 10 in the Suffolk Snapshots series is now available (from 1 Dec 2008). Each book brings together data from tithe apportionments and maps, the census records of 1841 and parish registers for a specific parish to form a detailed picture of village life in rural Suffolk in the 1840's.

"Educating the Ilsleys" - the history of education in East & West Ilsley, celebrating the centenary of the 'New' school. This booklet covers both private education in the 19th century and the development of education for the village children through the 19th and 20th centuries. An interactive CD is also available of the exhibition that was put on in Oct 2008 to celebrate the centenary.

"East Ilsley in the 1830s" - an interactive map of E. Ilsley on CD-ROM. The map and its associated terrier are similar to the tithe map and its listing of owners and occupiers, but are not identical. The map was drawn up no later than 1831 and so pre-dates the tithe map and apportionments of 1839.
