"East Ilsley in the 1830s", Sue Burnay & Nigel Wardell
A terrier and its associated map exist for the parish of
E.Ilsley - these are similar to the tithe map and its listing of owners and
occupiers, but are not identical. Comparison of the names in the terrier
with parish registers indicate that the terrier was drawn up no later than
1831, and so pre-dates the tithe map and apportionments of 1839.
This interactive CD contains the map and details extracted
from the terrier for each of the numbered parcels of land identified on the
map. High resolution images mean that you can zoom in to the finest detail
on the map, which is a beautiful example of 19th century map-making.

"Exhibition - Educating the Ilsleys", Sue Burnay & Eric Saxton
To celebrate the centenary of the 'New' school building, an
exhibition on education in the villages of East & West Ilsley was held in
Oct 2008. The exhibition covered private education in the 19th century, the
development of education for the village children (National & Board school),
the move to the new building in 1908, many group photos from 1905 to 1964,
reminiscences of evacuees during WWII and much more.
As part of the centenary celebrations, a stained glass
window has been created and installed in the school hall. The window
incorporates drawings and ideas from children currently at the school in a
series of panes linked around the current school logo. The development of
the window is also included on the CD-ROM.

New CD-ROM:
"In the Name of God, Amen - transcripts of 190 East Ilsley
wills (1504-1877)", Eric Saxton
This CD contains full
transcripts, summaries of beneficiaries, executors and witnesses,
and a full name index to people mentioned in these 190 wills
associated with the village of East Ilsley. A number of these wills
(27) pre-date the parish registers and so provide vital information
for those researching family history pre-1608.
